Hey J,

I’m so sorry that you felt that reading all of those summaries was a waste of time. Honestly, the test that I took had NUMEROUS questions about them. I would be curious to see if other test takers share your experience; the test may well be changing and I wasn’t aware, or perhaps you just got a different version.

This guide is very comprehensive, and works. I used it as my main resource and crushed the Praxis. Most of the literature isn’t too in depth, but it is important to have at least a surface knowledge of as many of the texts as possible. Again, this guide is great!

I took the English content 0041 last week and used this study guide to prepare. Another great resource can be found here: http://www3.uakron.edu/education/PraxisII/praxisIInew.htm

On the version of the test that I was given, there were only 2 or 3 questions where I had to identify the title/author of a given passage, so I felt that it was a waste of time reviewing all the plot summaries/characters of the 100 works listed. The answer to most questions could be determined as long as you knew the lit periods, major authors and themes. I would suggest spending a lot of time studying that. There was a good bit of poetry, so be prepared to scan a poem and identify feet/meter.

If you haven’t prayed for a while… then do so.

Also, a vast majority of the test will evaluate your technical English skills. If you don’t know what an iambic pentameter is or what Assonance is I would review before taking it.

Hi Jackie,

I’m afraid that I never took the Praxis II Essay exam. I only took the Content Knowledge exam.

For each essay, it looks like a 2 or 3 would pass and a 1 or 0 would not. All I could find in a hurry was http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/PRAXIS/pdf/0042.pdf.

I am scheduled to take the English Praxis tomorrow and would like some information about the essay portion. I see that the scoring ranges from 0 to 3. What is considered a passing score?

Hey Jamie its me again!

I nailed the English part of the Praxis II Elementary Education Content Knowledge, but unfortunately I did not pass. I made a 130 but need a 137. This is very disappointing. I have been in school forever trying to graduate. I can not do my student teaching if I don’t pass this test. ETS is making a killing off of me.(lol) I will be taking it again April 26, 2008 hopefully for the last time. I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. My brain is boiling over. Do you know anyone who might have some information on Elementary Education Content Knowledge 0014.
